One year! On 15 March it was the first anniversary of the Action Packed Travel podcast and we’ve loved every minute of it. During our second year we’ll be bringing you even more interviews with amazing people, and we hope to get lots of new listeners around the world.
Meanwhile in March, we’ve had some amazing people on: we started with Matilda Temperley: Action Woman Behind the Lens. The top fashion and reportage photographer and worldwide adventurer started out as a scientist in Africa before switching careers.
Then it was Open Water Swimming with Simon Murie. It’s something we’d really like to do ourselves, once we’re able to travel again. Swimming from island to island in Greece sounds wonderful. Warm or cold, all you really need is a pair of Speedos, goggles, a hat and the ability to swim a few kilometres in the warm waters of the Mediterranean or the Caribbean or perhaps a rather chilly North Atlantic Ocean.
Geraldine Fasnacht: On a Wing and a Prayer was astonishing. This woman has no fear and flies, climbs, descends and jumps all over the Alps and way beyond. Geraldine’s idea of a little light, adrenaline-fuelled recreation is to climb one of Europe’s highest peaks and then dive off it in a wing suit at speeds of up to 180 kilometers per hour.
Finally we had our oldest guest. Octogenarian John Blashford-Snell is an explore who just doesn’t stop. In fact, he’d be travelling the world right now if it wasn’t for lockdown. He’s never happier than when he finds himself astride an elephant in India or paddling a dugout canoe in the South American rainforest, or shooting rapids in the crocodile-infested waters of the Nile.
Oh yes, and we now have our first Action Packed merchandise – it’s T-shirts in five colours and every size. To buy a T-shirt and at the same time support our show, go to www.bonfire.com/action-packed-travel
